Pest-EZ Pest Control in Livonia Can Solve Any Mouse Problem
Mice are very adaptable critters who will eat pretty much anything, and they are known to be constant nibblers, eating 10%-15% of their body weight each and every day. They do not need much water, getting most of their needed hydration from their food. If they have food, water, shelter and are undisturbed, they can multiply very quickly, with populations taking over buildings. House mice in a city environment commonly spend their entire life inside of buildings, given that their living conditions are ideal. Mice in rural and suburban settings may not only live inside but are commonly found outside near a home’s foundation, in shrubbery, weeds, crawl spaces, basements and garages.
They survive mostly off of weeds, seeds and insects during warmer months. When their food supply is shortened by cold weather, they move inside to nest closer to a source of food. They commonly make their nest from materials like paper, insulation and/or furniture stuffing. Their nests can be found in walls, ceiling voids, storage boxes, drawers, under major appliances or within the upholstery of furniture.
The adult house mouse is very small and narrow, usually about one to two inches in length, not including its tail, which is longer than the whole body. Typically, mice range in colors from light gray to brown to black. They are excellent at climbing, jumping and, surprisingly, swimming. They can reach top speeds of 8 mph, but rarely travel more than 50 feet from their nests.
